Spowarts Ltd

Spowarts is a company operating within the manufacturing sector specializing in the production and supply of product labels to companies within the supply industry

Operating within such a diverse and highly competitive market place were the need to retrieve archive Images regularly and quickly is essential so that customer response times can be achieved meant that the company had to implement a digital system that could provide the required platform whilst importantly staying within the company’s limited budget.

Traditionally, the Company had archived these images on a film media, an expensive and laborious process both in terms of creating the film images and in maintaining the outdated film equipment. New developments within print production sector had resulted in almost all the operators in this market place changing from film to plate (FTP) to camera to plate (CTP) systems, which required digital images to operate.

To overcome these problems, the Company decided to deploy a modern electronic image management system based on a bespoke TWD (UK) product suite.

Original film images that did not need to be retained for legislative reasons were confidentially disposed of by TWD after the company had quality checked the scanned images and approved the films destruction.

One of the project advantages was that the system was easy to role out and gave no performance issues to the existing network infrastructure as the images are compressed. Additionally, the system requires minimum housekeeping and has been found to be totally reliable.

The area of the business concerned required information from the archive regularly. After the implementation of the document management system the response time was reduced substantially increasing efficiency and response time and providing a saving of valuable staff resources which were utilised in other internal area’s reducing other operational costs and further increasing production and quality of service.
